The Ballad of Chris & Susan: Awesomer Mix Vol. 1-3

Yes I have blatantly stolen the name from the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. But, while theirs is awesome, mine is awesomer. As I think of songs that make me think of Susan and our relationship, I compiled 3 discs worth of entries. So, feel free to enjoy the following list of music for the next couple of weeks: 1. Amy Grant - Every Heartbeat 2. The Association - Never my Love 3. Atlanta Rhythm Section - So Into You 4. Avalon - In Christ Alone (sung at our wedding) 5. The Beatles - I Feel Fine (cmon its the Beatles) 6. Billy Joel - Just the Way you Are (our first dance) 7. Billy Joel - Shameless 8. Blake Shelton - Honey Bee (look its a country song) 9. Blake Shelton - God Gave Me You (look its another country song) 10. Boz Scaggs - We're All Alone 11. Captain & Tennille - Love will keep us together 12. Chicago - Just you n me 13. I Want to see the Greater Things

Jesus said "You believe I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that" John 1:50. What is the greatest thing you have ever seen? I am sure that there is a wide variety of answers to that question. We all have different backgrounds and experiences. We have different likes and dislikes so obviously our opinions will not be the same. Prior to Jesus' statement in John 1:50, we have a story where Philip finds his friend Nathanael to tell him that they had found the Messiah written about it in the law. Nathanael insults the town of Nazareth, but Philip takes him to Jesus. As they approach Jesus said of Nathanael "Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit." What I like is that Nathanael doesn't dispute Jesus' statement. Like "yeah I know I'm not deceitful". He just asks how does Jesus know him, to which Jesus replies that he saw Nathanael under the fig tree before Philip got him. Nathanael then proc...

The Bad Samaritan Laws

Lately here in America, I have been reading online about different states trying to pass laws where people can deny service to others based on their deeply held religious beliefs. Such as, not agreeing to the gay lifestyle because of my Christian beliefs so I choose not to serve them. It is usually spouted by self-identified Christians protecting their "religious freedom". Now, if you own your own company and you feel in your beliefs a certain way, you can do what you want. You shouldn't be forced to go against your faith - let the market decide then. But, if you are a part of a national chain, then I have a problem with that. My biggest frustration is when people hide behind their faith to justify bad behavior towards others. There is a sense of persecution held by Christians here, that I don't see. Complaints about being wished "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" Or gays getting married damaging their marriage somehow. Or, I don't ...

Good News or Good Advice?

"The time has come" He said. "The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news." Mark 1:15 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor" Luke 4: 18-19 What do you do when you receive good news? Do you keep it to yourself? Never sharing it with others? For the most part, we share it with everyone within earshot. It's the kind of thing you cant withhold, it almost wants to burst out from within you. That's how it should be in sharing the Gospel. The word gospel derives from the Old English meaning "good news" or "glad tidings". The gospel was considered the good news of the coming of Jesus. This includes His teachings, His ministry, and what He continues to do for each of us. Do we treat it though as...
